A member of a well- known business group, nicknamed "Rags (Harry Davies- Haberdashery), Bottles (Coghlan) and Bones (John Heinz -butcher)", these men in 1898 purchased and redeveloped Ballarat's Academy of Music, now Her Majesty's Theatre
