Many thanks to the team at the Eureka Centre for presenting a panel discussion for Ballarat Heritage Week entitled 'The Lost Irish Women of Eureka'.

Chaired by Eureka Centre's Sarah van de Wouw, she introduced a new Ballarat and District Irish Association project, funded by Public Record Office Victoria - Local History Grant.  The aim is to highlight the contribution of Irish women to Ballarat’s social, cultural, and industrial development.  Sarah is the Education and Public Programs Officer at the Eureka Centre Ballarat.

The panelists were Lucy Bracey, Historian, Way Back When and Erin McCuskey, Creative Director, Yum Studio who are working to uncover individual identities of women, using a range of family and archival sources. The project will culminate later this year with a short film that will interpret the research findings.

This event was booked out online and a great attendance ensured for an entertaining discussion followed with some thoughtful questions and answers.

There are some lovely photos from the event on the Eureka Centre Facebook page.

Thank you to all who came along.  Don't hesitate to get in contact if you have and questions, stories and photos that may help with this project.
